Congratulations to Andy who won a very competitive novice class to win a vital Ormiston point for Skiff Club. This was Andy’s first long distance race and he won a well paced race in a time of 40 minutes 59 seconds, winning by a margin of 32 seconds. WELL DONE ANDY! Katherine won her first singles pot in a respectable time of 51 minutes 48 seconds. Great performances from our new members!

All participants did well in this, the longest singles event in the skiffing calendar, Bill came in 2nd is his event as did Derek. Steering for singles on this course is tricky; the author managed to hit a moored boat by Walton Bridge on the Middlesex bank and then over compensated to tangle with a fishing rod on the opposite Surrey bank. The ‘scenic route’ a shame it wasn’t a meander!

We go into the last regatta of the season at next weekend’s doubles marathon with a narrow 2 point lead in the very exciting race for the Ormiston Trophy. There are 10 points available next week, all to skiff for; bring it on!
