Walton Reach Regatta held on Saturday 17th August 2019
The Walton Reach Regatta was held on the River Thames at Thames Valley Skiff and Punting Club. The racing course distance was approximately 650 metres downstream on the Surrey side of the river from the Black Swan to finish at TVSC clubhouse.
It was good to get back on the river following the cancellation of the Sunbury Regatta the previous weekend end due to high winds. A cloudy dry morning gave way to a lovely sunny warm afternoon with a following breeze down the course.

Bill Clee excelled with 3 event wins executed with style and power and he coped well with the demands of several races in close succession. Our Captain Eilish led from the front, winning 2 events as did Riccardo, both are rising through the skiffing status categories as they continue to improve.
In their first competitive race together Katherine and Kristina were coxed by Paul to win an exciting race by half a length; well done!.
At senior level, Riley and Miranda won the mixed doubles by half a length in one of the fastest times of the day, they too continue to improve.
Our veteran crew Keith and Mike won against a (Slightly) younger crew, maintaining their lead from the handicapped start to the finish. All racers enjoyed great vocal support from the clubhouse roof terrace;, Go Skiff Club!!
A great day on and by the river and ……in the bar.
